BREWERTON SIDE-NOTCHED

Description: broad, thick, side-notched points of medium size;  blade edges slightly excurvate;  stem side-notched with an expanded base, usually ground smooth
Size Range: 2.1 cm - 9.8 cm, predominantly in the 3.2 cm - 5.7 cm range
Cultural Affiliation: Archaic Brewerton Complex
Distribution: All of New York;  present in southern New England, southern Ontario, and Pennsylvania;  also dominant in upper Ohio Valley Archaic sites of the Lauretian tradition.
