This was one of those days you dream about as an avocational archaeologist.  Over 40 artifacts recovered from a  field in Monroe County, New York.  The best finds are pictured here and on the next page.

    The adze fragment at left was just one of a number of non-chipped tools that were recovered from this site with its large Lamoka component.  Interestingly, the fragment shown here was reworked at the break.  It is apparent that the disappointed owner pecked at the rough edges of the break to make the shortened version more comfortable for hand use.
    On the page that follows you'll see some impressive complete adze finds that were made on this day as well as other forms of Archaic tools that were recovered.
